Using Play When Training Your Dog.

Dogs provide us with unconditional love and lots of joy. No wonder they are the most popular pets in the US. Bringing home a dog could mean lots of work. There is a lot of training that needs to take place. Learn the training tips in this article and use them regularly, and your dog will be trained in no time.

Repetition is what causes a dog to learn. It is not uncommon for it to take between 25 to 50 repetitions of the same command for your dog to learn it. Keep trying, your dog will pick it up.

Think of a word you can use as a command during training. One good word can act as an appreciated segue from the good behavior to the ultimate reward.

Keep treats on hand to reward your pet for doing good. The first step is a simple “lay” command. Next, hold a treat near the floor on one side of his head, slowly bring the treat up and over the dogs head to the other side. He’ll follow your hand and roll over completely. Say “roll over” as he performs the action so that he’ll learn the command. Do not get mad if it takes several tries. Once they learn this particular trick, they will be popular at the dog park!

When you begin house training, select a phrase to use repeatedly with your pet. Whenever you take your pet outside to use the bathroom, choose a phrase, like “go potty”, so he remembers what he is there to do.

Practice patience when you are training your dog. This prevents both of you from getting irritated and angry with the training. Understand that the proper training will come with time, so cut your dog some slack and let them learn.

Because you now have some excellent tips on training your puppy, utilize them. Stay patient and reward your dog when they act properly. It’s not an overnight process, but results come fairly quickly.
